WhatsApp keeps rolling out new updates and features to improve user experience and make its instant messaging platform more safe and secure. In the year 2019, WhatsApp rolled out several new features. These include privacy settings for WhatsApp Groups, fingerprint/FaceID lock for Android and iOS users and more. Quick Replies: These are frequent messages to answer common questions. Simply press the “/” on your keyboard to select a quick reply and send.
Labels: Organize your contacts or chats with labels, so you can easily find them again.
Chat List Filtering: Easily manage your chats with filters to sort by unread messages, groups or broadcast lists.
WhatsApp Business app comes to iPhones: WhatsApp Business app for iOS is free to download from the Apple App Store and includes features to help small businesses and customers communicate.
FaceID/Fingerprint: Available on iPhone 5s or later and on iOS 9 and above, this enables users to unlock WhatsApp using Touch ID/Face ID. Similarly, Android users can secure their WhatsApp account using Fingerprint.
Group Privacy settings: Giving more control to users, WhatsApp gives three options to choose so from who can add them to a Group. These include ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’, or ‘My Contacts Except’.
Share WhatsApp Status on Facebook and Instagram: This feature allows users to share WhatsApp status messages as Facebook stories on both Android and iOS app. This means whatever status you post on WhatsApp can be shared across Instagram and Facebook.
‘Frequently Forwarded’ label : Available both on Android and iOS, frequently forwarded feature is meant to curb misinformation and seeks to address the issue of ‘viral content’ on WhatsAPP. A double arrow will appear for messages forwarded that have been more than five times.
WhatsApp limits forwards to 5 chats: First introduced in India, the feature is now available globally. It limits all users on the latest versions of WhatsApp to forward a message to only five chats at once.
Reply Privately in Group chats: This allows individuals to respond to a particular message, privately in a group chat. To reply privately to someone who sent a message in a group, tap and hold the message, then tap More > Reply Privately.
