Microsoft mistakenly released an internal document that reveals the future of the Windows 10X operating system. Now the leak has been stopped, but some details were managed by journalists.
Microsoft introduced Windows 10X as an operating system for dual-screen devices. It is known that visually it differs by a redesigned Start menu, but according to sources, Windows 10X is deprived of outdated interfaces from previous versions of Windows, and also works faster and more reliable than regular Windows 10.
The leaked document explains that both classic laptops and folding gadgets will receive the same basic version of Windows 10X, but with a set of alternative parameters that will allow you to adjust the system to a specific device.
In Windows 10X, the Start menu is called Launcher. Its feature will be an advanced local search, “seamlessly integrated with web results, available applications and files on the device.” Recommended content will be selected based on frequently or recently used content.
The Windows Hello feature will work immediately when you turn on the device without having to go from the lock screen. Mention is also made of the “modern Explorer” and the simplified design of the “Notification Center”.
Windows 10X will be available on dual-screen and folding devices starting in the fall of 2020.
