Demsa is one of the Local Government Area of Adamawa state with headquarters located in Demsa. Demsa is situated on the Benue River. The local government has a population of about 180,251 people. The major ethnic groups in Demsa are Bachama, Batta, Yandang, Bille, Mbula, Maya, Bare and Fulani tribe.


Fufore is both a town and Local Government Area in Adamawa State.


Ganye is a town and Local Government Area in Adamawa State. Ganye later gave birth to Jada and Toungo Local Government Areas. The soil of Ganye is the loamy type. Jada is a town and Local Government Area that was birthed from Ganye local government area. Jada is part of the Chamba land while Ganye (the food basket of Adamawa state) remains the mother of the whole chamba land. Lamurde is a Local Government Area in Adamawa State inhabited predominantly by the Bwatiye (Bachama) people.


Madagali is also known as Madagli. It is a town and local government area in Adamawa State. Madagali is adjacent to the border with Cameroon. The local government area was created in 1991 when Taraba State was created out of Gongola State. There are many ethnic groups in Madagali, however, MarghiMaffa and Fulani are the major ethnic languages. The major villages in Madagali are Gulak and Shuwa villages. Madagali is abundantly blessed with fertile land which makes agriculture the primary means of making money for the inhabitants.

Michika local government has its headquarters in Michika town in Adamawa state. The local government was created in 1976 and is located in the northern side of Adamawa state. Michika is bordered on the east by the Republic of Cameroon, on the north by Madagali local government and on its west by the Askira/Uba local government area in Borno State. Michika is a cosmopolitan town with many businesses such as branches of banks, two colleges and many secondary schools.

The local government is located directly across the border from the famous tourist site of Mcedigyi in Cameroon. Michika is also the fourth largest town and most populated in Adamawa State. The major ethnic group and language in Michika is the Kamwe people and Vecemwe (which is Kamwe language).


Mubi North is a Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Nigeria. Mubi town is the location of the Adamawa State University and the Federal Polytechnic Mubi.


Mubi South is a Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Nigeria.


Numan is also called Nomweh which means ‘hilltop’. It is a town and a Local Government Area in Adamawa State. It is a port town that is situated on the confluence of Benue River and the Gongola River. The major ethnic group in the Numan town are the Bwatiye (Bachama) people. The Bwatiye people are renowned for being unconquered warriors in time past. Adamawa state Polytechnic is located in Numan town.
