Here is report as MICROSOFT swiftly come up with a new SDK that will enable developers to bring Xbox Live functionality to Android and iOS apps.
It is obvious that while some iOS and Android games already have Xbox Live Achievements, this feature is only enabled in titles from Microsoft Studios. The new SDK, announced ahead of next week’s Games Developers Conference, will bring full Xbox Live experience to games on Apple and Google’s mobile platforms, including Achievements, Gamerscore, friends lists, clubs, privacy settings, and parental controls.
“We believe so strongly in community, and Xbox Live really being at the heart of our gaming community,” said Kareem Choudhry, Microsoft’s gaming cloud chief, to The Verge.
“If you watch what we’ve done, especially with Minecraft, over the past few years we’ve taken Xbox Live to as many platforms as Minecraft is on as possible. Really uniting all those communities together with a consistent singular experience for those gamers.”
Microsoft’s announcement made no mention of the Nintendo Switch, though. A recent leak of the firm’s GDC schedule had suggested that Xbox Live would also be coming to the hybrid console
Still, maybe Microsoft is holding back a surprise for GDC, where we’ll likely hear more about its cross-platform push.
To accompany today’s teaser, Microsoft also announced ‘Game Stack’, a tool for developers that combines all of the firm’s developer tools, services, and platforms with Azure and PlayFab, the platform of services that help developers build and launch cloud-connected games. Y’know, because xCloud.
Microsoft Game Stack will also include DirectX, Mixer, Power BI, Havok, Visual Studio, Windows, Xbox Game Studios, Xbox Live, and Simplygon, the firm said in a blog post, promising that “in the coming months, as we work to improve and grow Game Stack, you’ll see deeper connections between these services as we unify them to work more seamlessly together.
