The publication claims that the hardware and software for the Surface Duo have been finalized and the company is now optimizing the OS and in-box app experiences. The report states that the software will be read by April. Instead of the latest Snapdragon 865 processor, the Surface Duo is expected to be powered by last year’s Snapdragon 855. Hence, it won’t carry support for 5G connectivity.
The Surface Duo may debut in limited quantities in summer mainly for developers and enthusiasts. The device could be available for purchase by spring alongside the Surface Go and Surface Book 3. Most flagship phones now come with 5G connectivity and even mid-range smartphones will come with 5G support by the end of the year. If the S8D855 powered Surface Duo with no 5G support arrives by the year end, it would be considered outdated. Hence, the company may release the Surface Duo soon.
Microsoft Surface Duo specifications
The Surface Duo is a foldable Android phone that comes with two separate 5.6-inch screens. The new report states that the SD855 driven device will come with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. There is no word on the other specs of the device. Microsoft had previously confirmed that the Surface Pro will offer world camera experience. Also, it is expected to be available in higher RAM and storage options.
