While Reno will officially be the first smartphone to run on ColorOS 6, Oppo will also push the update to the Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Edition during the month of April. This will be followed by the Oppo Find X, Oppo R17 and R17 Pro which will be receiving the ColorOS 6 update by August.

Oppo announced the newest ColorOS 6 UI for its smartphones back in November last year soon after which the software went into the testing phase. The Chinese smartphone company has now confirmed that the ColorOS 6 interface will debut with the launch of the OPPO Reno smartphonefollowed by Oppo’s other smartphones.

The news comes from Oppo’s forum which revealed that it had conducted an event on ColorOS 6 on Sunday and it’s possible that it revealed the list of devices at the same time. While Reno will officially be the first smartphone to run on ColorOS 6, Oppo will also push the update to the Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Edition during the month of April.

This will be followed by the Oppo Find X, Oppo R17 and R17 Pro which will be receiving the ColorOS 6 update by August, reports Gadgets360. Oppo has also revealed that its older devices including the likes of the Oppo A3, A7x and the R11 series will also be rolled out with a similar update, possibly during September 2019.

To recall, ColorOS 6.0 takes inspiration from Android’s white themes and has a white backdrop over various sections with light coloured gradients from one end of the UI. Oppo said the white in the interface is meant to make room for an “airy atmosphere”. ColorOS 6.0 has been designed for the next generation of bezel-less all-screen smartphones but will also be work wonders in Oppo’s older phones. The main highlight of the update comes from Oppo’s new font which it says has been made with the help of Chinese typeface firm Hanyi and is called Oppo Sans.

ColorOS 6.0 features built-in AI to keep background app frozen instead of completely closing them in order to improve its memory management. The AI will also analyse a user’s app activity from the last two weeks to learn their usage habits and freeze the required apps that will be needed at later stages. Oppo says this technique will improve a phone battery life and thus limit the overall power consumption by 7 percent.
